Positive: This is a traditional Yakushima house with beautiful wooden details and sliding doors, but recently renovated and well fitted out. Super comfortable futons and Nao was an incredibly helpful host, providing information about local amenities and good spots to go like the local onsen. The house is surrounded by trees and a small river which gives it a secluded feeling. Need a car but there are many great things to do on the south side of the island - hardly felt the need to go to Anbo at all.
